Jon grew up in Dallas, Texas and spent his youth playing basketball and video games. Theatre, let alone playwrighting, was nothing but a light hobby. It wasn't until he attended Collin College at age 19 that the theatre bug bit him, and in 2009 he was infused with inspiration to write a play for the school - Dream. The play became the first student directed show to receive an encore run the following semester and won a great number of awards at the college. A playwright was born.
Jon entered a writing frenzy, writing full length play after full length play. He recruited a couple of his college peers who specialized in the tech elements of theatre and the three formed Triple J Productions: a vehicle for Jon to produce his newly minted works. His productions took him all over the Dallas metroplex - from the Bath House Cultural Center to the Addison Theatre Center. The company produced four full length plays as well as participated in the Festival of Independent Theatres in 2011 (a festival of one act plays.) Jon also found himself interviewed by and featured in Dallas' D Magazine.
In 2012, Jon moved with his wife to Los Angeles to further his acting and writing career. Within six months he secured a publishing deal with Next Stage Press for his play The Zookeeper's Journal, making Jon a published playwright for the first time. Jon went on to self produce two more original plays in LA; one of them - Happy No Year - transitioned to a run in the 2016 Hollywood Fringe Festival. In 2020, Jon was inducted into his alma mater's Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in theatre.
